Zee News now available on DD Freedish

DD Free dish is India's Free DTH service by Prasar Bharati. DD Free dish recently held 28th eauction for fill and renew its vacant TV slots on its platform.

In 28th e-auction which held on 28th July 2016, result has been declared, and ZEE NEWS won the slot on DD Freedish platform.
Zee News now available on DD Freedish


Zee News channel, owned by ZMCL (Zee Media Corporation LTD). The channel recently converted as a free-to-air channel. So from now there are no charges to view this channel on Cable TV or DTH.

Oi launched Prepaid TV Service in Brazil

The Brazilian telecommunications operator "Oi" launched its new service as a prepaid TV, an option currently offered in Brazil by satellite pay-TV company Sky, recently acquired by AT&T from DirecTV. The customer can share the credit between the mobile packet and TV, as well as having the option to refills on 300 000 accredited points.

According to Bernardo Winik, retail director at Hi, the product was created with the intention of attracting the users of the service "Oi TV Free" for pay TV worldwide TeleSíntese said. By purchasing the kit "Oi TV Free HD" users gain access to the main open channels in HD. Winik said there are 1.2 million people using this service.


During ABTA 2016, the company also presented the Video on demand (VOD) Library for Oi platform, which will be available to customers with hybrid STB with DVR or PVR function, and by broadband service.

9 companies signed MoUs for DD Freedish iCAS

It is very long time that we heard some update about DD Freedish iCAS. The Deity has listed 9 set-top box manufacturers company who have signed MoUs with the Indian Conditional Access System (iCAS) developed by ByDesign India Pvt Ltd.

These 9 companies will produce set-top boxes with iCAS. The all 9 companies are:

  • Melbon-Millennium Technologies, (Delhi)
  • SOLID -KMTS Engineering Pvt Ltd, (Delhi)
  • MyBox Technologies Pvt Ltd (Delhi)
  • C-Net Communications India Pvt Ltd. (Delhi)
  • Smasher Communications Pvt Ltd. (B'lore)
  • Velankani Electronics Pvt Ltd, (B'lore)
  • Exza Info System (Pune)
  • ABS Productions Pvt Ltd. (Mumbai)
  • Videocon (Aurangabad)

9 companies signed MoUs for DD Freedish iCAS

iCAS had been test deployed by 13 operators by March-end at Sandur, Challakere and Ranebennur in Karnataka; Chalisgaon and Wai in Maharashtra; Yerraguntla and Tadipatri in Andhra Pradesh; Madurai in Tamil Nadu; Durgapur in West Bengal; Hamirpur in Himachal Pradesh; Neemuch in Madhya Pradesh; Bikaner in Rajasthan and Haldwani in Uttarakhand.

According to the agreement signed, developed iCAS will be made available to the operators at 0.5USD or less for a period of 3 years. Over 25,000 STBs with iCAS have already been distributed across the country during the month of December last till January this year as some sources.

Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (ZEEL) changed its new channel name and logo from "Zee Premier Cinema" to "Zee Anmol Cinema".
Zee Anmol Cinema a Brand New Hindi Movie Channel launching soon.


Although "Zee Anmol Cinema" not launched yet, only test signals was running on DD Free dish DTH / Dish TV and asiasat 105.5 satellite.

So now "Zee Anmol Cinema" would be a new Hindi movie channel for FTA (Rural) market, same as "Star Utsav Movies".

At this time Zee Anmol cinema available on DD Free dish at channel no.70

Also Zee Anmol Cinema available on Dish TV.

Viacom18 replaced MTV Beats with MTV Indies

Viacom18 Network introduced brand new Hindi music channel "MTV Beats" in Bollywood / POP genre. As this channel already replaced X-Zone TV on DD Freedish and Dish TV.

MTV Indies at this time available mazor DTH and cable TV platform. But good news is that this channel will be pay channel same as "MTV Indies".

Viacom18 Network  was already running a POP music channel on DD Freedish" XZONE TV", but network replaced with MTV Beats at channel no.78.

Sudhanshu Vats, the Group CEO of Viacom18, stated that: “MTV initiated India into the experience of pop culture, making it a socially and commercially successful phenomenon. This presents us with the unique opportunity to redesign our youth and music portfolio and take brand MTV into sharply segmented content buckets within the genre”.

Ferzad Palia, business head, Youth and English Entertainment at Viacom18, further commented about the development: “This is a channel aimed at the 15-30-year age group across urban and rural India, people who love music and often imagine their day having a sound track of sorts. To give our audience’s life a unique beat, we’re working on defining the week into mood based themes and curating our playlists accordingly, thereby making music viewing a more relatable experience”.

India's first free-to-air Cartoon TV channel launched.

Pradeep / DTH News Blog / New Delhi: In India now about 1000 TV channels are running but in these channels there was no  free-to-air cartoon TV channel available.

But now " Teleone Consumers Product Pvt.Ltd’ brings a brand new Cartoon Television Channel " Maha Cartoon". At this time this channel is airing with name of "Maha Mazza".

As I discussed with Mr. Sanjay in TCPL (Teleone Consumers Product Pvt.Ltd, he said “We have introduce India's first Free Cartoon TV channel for kids because of the unavailability of kids content in the FTA space. It has been designed with the rural viewer in mind".

Company already running a free-to-air Hindi movie channel for free-to-air market and this channel is performing very well. Maha movie channel is reaching in every home by DD Freedish (Free DTH Service) or by premium platforms.

DD Free Dish Completed 31st e-Auction, 3 new Channels added

DD Freedish (DD Direct Plus) conducted 31st e-auction on 20th and 21st October, 2016. 27 numbers of DD Freedish DTH slot were auctioned. Out of these 27 e-Auctioned DTH slots,  24 channels will be continued after the expiry of their respective annual agreement.

3 new channels have won the DTH slots, channels are:
News State UT/UP
9X Bajao TV (Houseful Action Movie)
Teleshop channel (Maha Cartoon TV).
DD Free Dish Completed 31st e-Auction, 3 new Channels added
Doordarshan earned total revenue of Rs 129.30 Cr. by sale of DD Free Dish slots during 31st e-Auction. Although this e-auction to be completed on 6th October but due to some technical problem, it is completed on 20th and 21st October 2016.

Reliance Jio going to launch Reliance Jio DTH service on 15th Dec

Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Jio Infocomm is likely to launch its DTH services with disruptive pricing on December 15, 2016. The service subscription will be free for the first six months akin to the Jio "Welcome Offer", according to a report by Gizbot.

The report added that the DTH service is expected to start from as low as Rs. 185 per month.

The Gizbot report said the telco is expected to launch various combo-packs in India. The South Indian Channel Combo will be priced at Rs. 195 per month, while the Sports Channel Combo will be available starting from Rs. 210 per month.

The Sports Channel combo pack will also offer channels like Star, Zee TV, Colors and Sony.

but another report by the India Express.com said that the DTH service will come in the form of a high-speed optical fibre – pushing speeds up to 1 Gbps.

“The hardware will include a set-top-box, as well as an Android smartbox or Apple TV that will help them control the content and also play games,” according to the the IndianExpress.com
