DW TV Asia to launch new english TV channel

New Delhi, Sept.17 / Yahoo News / ANI : Deutsche Welle (DW), Germany's Public Service Broadcaster, will underline its dedication to serving television audiences in South Asia while presenting its new channel today here at Hyatt Regency. The new DWTV will feature 24 hours of programming in English with a focus on news, lifestyle and regional content for Asia.

The cornerstone of the channel is news from Europe and the world, along with a programming focus on regional news and events from Asia. The new channel will also feature a variety of documentaries, talk shows and programs covering culture and lifestyle. Highlights include Euromaxx, Arts. 21, Tomorrow Today and Discover Germany.

"The new DWTV opens a window to the world for our viewers in South Asia," said Dorothee Ulrichs, Head of Distribution Asia at DW.

"DW offers a unique perspective that is especially valued by local business and opinion leaders and DW News will now provide them with insights into international head-lines and the details behind regional issues," he added.

In India, the new DW TV will be available on DTH platforms such as DD Freedish , Dish TV and Airtel. It will also available on cable networks including Asianet, Hathways, DEN Networks, InCable Network, Ortel and GTPL.

Prasar Bharati, India's Public service broadcaster had signed a MoU with DW last year paving way for distribution of DD India on DTH Platform of Hotbird-13B Satellite and the reciprocal distribution of DW-TV on DD Freedish.

Prasar Bharati Plans To Broadcast 20 TV Channels for Mobile via DVB-T2 / DVB-H technology by this year.

This is very good news, that Prasar Bharti, India's National broadcaster going to be start Mobile TV service by this year in 16 cities.

In first phase, 20 TV channels will be broadcast where 5 TV channels would be of Doordarshan and other 15 TV channels will be added by e-auction process.

At this time, these channels can be watch by Android and iPhone mobile and tablet users. You can watch crystel clear digital sound and picture quality. Prasar Bharati will use ‘DVB-T2 Lite’ technology for broadcasting these TV channels which can be accessed via a specially designed dongle. These dongles easy available on online websites such as Amazon, eBay, Marginprice

DD Freedish collected Rs.57 crore in 23rd e-auction

Doordarshan earned Rs 57.1 crore in the 23rd e-auction on 19 October 2015. According to Mr. C K Jain, 14 TV channels successfully won slots in DD Freedish platform. Where 10 private television channels renewed its subscription and 4 New channels adding in this platform shortly.

Prasar Bharati (Doordarshan) had set a reserve price of Rs 3.7 crore per slot of DD Freedish for the online e-auction, this e-auction was conducted by Noida-based C1 India on behalf of Prasar Bharati. but good news is that all the bids were between Rs 4 to Rs 4.2 crore.

Here is new channels to be adding on DD Freedish; Sony Mix, Homeshop18, Sadhana National, Big Magic Ganga. Other 10 channels renewed thier subscription for annul, channels are; India TV, ABP News, Cinema TV, Maha Movies, B4u Movies, Sony Mix, 9XM Music, Dabangg, Mastii, Time TV and enterr 10 movies.

Zee Media Corporation Ltd (ZMCL) now convert-ting regional news channel (for UP/Bihar) to national news channel. This channel would be available from 24 October 2015.

At this time many premium channels available in free-to-air market, as India TV, India News, ABP News, News Nation, News 24 etc, so now "India 24X7" will competes these news channels. Although company already airing Zee News India's premium News channel. According to channel, it has on top in prime time show "DNA" at 9:00 PM.

DD Freedish DTH collected 31cr from sale of DTH Slot

NEW DELHI / DTH News Blog: DD Free dish is India's Free DTH Service by Prasar Bharati / Doordarshan. Doordarshan claimed to have earned Rs.31.2 Crore by selling five vacant TV channel slots of DD Free Dish.

In 24th eauction, which was held on 9th November 2015, two new channel coming soon DTH platform " Aaj Tak" and "Big Magic".

Also Mr. CK Jain informed via official twitter account that three existing channels, namely India News, News24 and Hindi movie channel Manoranjan TV, have extended its licence for a year.

According to Economic Times News, here is bidding amount of TV channels:
News24               : Rs 6.5 Crore (Highest Bidding)
Manoranjan TV     : Rs 6.4 Crore
India News          : Rs 6.3 Crore
Aaj Tak               : Rs 6 Crore
Big Magic             : Rs 6 Crore

"We have mopped up Rs 31.2 Crore from five slots. Aaj Tak and Big Magic are new additions. They are paying Rs 6 Crore each. News24, Manoranjan TV and India News have extended their contract. They are paying Rs 6.5 Crore, Rs 6.4 Crore and Rs 6.3 Crore respectively," Doordarshan DDG CK Jain said.

Aaj Tak and Big Magic very soon would be available on DD Free Dish Platform. Both channels are Pay channels now available free-to-air.

DD Freedish Encrypted MPEG4 stream may come in April 2016.

This is latest update from Mr.CK Jain ‏@ckjaindd who is Dy. Director General in Doordarshan. As Mr. Jain informed that " Encrypted MPEG4 stream may come in April 2016." also informed that " For receiving encrypted MPEG4 channels, STBs may have to be purchased from authorized distributors. Subscription will still be zero."


According to Mr. Jain " As of now there is no plan to add HD channels on DDFreedish. But whenever added, HD STBs will be required to view HD and SD channels."

Doordarshan Regional services to be shifted to new satellite

New Delhi, Dec 8 (By : ANI): Doordarshan's regional services, which are presently running on INSAT-3A, will be shifted to INSAT-4B from December 12.
Due to this shift, Doordarshan regional services will remain off air from midnight to 5am on December 10.

The step is being taken in view of End of Life (EOL) of INSAT-3A, as declared by Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).

DD Freedish very soon to expand 250 TV Channels

DD Freedish India's only free direct to home service by Prasar Bharati (Doordarshan). At this time DD Freedish broadcasting 64 TV channels but very soon it is expected to expand up to 112 by March-end. Information and Broadcasting Minister Arun Jaitley told in Parliament that the Department of Space (ISRO) had agreed in principle to provide additional transponders on newly launched satellite GSAT15 required for 250 TV channels in DD Freedish.

Mr. Jaitley also said Doordarshan has faced issues in implementing its conditional access system (CAS), but has now decided to adopt the Indian Conditional Access System (Indian CAS), which is being finalised by Department of Electronics and Information Technology. The system, developed by ByDesign India, is based on the DVB-C broadcasting standard.

GSAT-15 satellite, launched recently, has planned its mission for 12 years and this satellite will be located at same direction of INSAT-3A / INSAT-4B satellite at 93.5° East Longitude. GSAT-15 carries 24 Ku-band transponders with 36 Mhz high bandwidth.

Pemra again puts off bidding process for DTH services in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD / KALBE ALI /(Courtesy :  DAWN NEWS ) : The bidding process for the Direct to Home (DTH) services has been further delayed because the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) has decided to initiate “legal due diligence” for the exercise.

The legal due diligence is an investigation of a business or person prior to signing of a contract. The DTH is a digital service that provides television viewing services directly to subscribers through satellite transmission anywhere in the country.

In this service a “dish” is placed outside a house which helps in receiving the signals and broadcasting them onto a television. The signals are digital by nature and are received directly from the satellite.

A meeting held on Friday in the head office of the authority also decided that recommendations and findings formulated after due diligence would be presented at the next meeting of the Pemra board for consideration.

“The next meeting of the authority is likely in January next year,” a senior Pemra official said, adding that if the process continued smoothly then the bidding might take place in February.

Talking to Dawn on condition of anonymity, a Pemra board member said the delay was helping those active in the illegal DTH business.

“I cannot comment on the issue openly as it will give a political angle to the situation, but we must understand that there is someone who is benefiting from the delay,” the board member claimed, adding that the estimated volume of the illegal DTH business was between $2 billion and $3bn annually.

Pakistan is offering three DTH licences to be made operational across the country and eight applicant companies had been shortlisted by Pemra for participation in the process.

They are Sardar Builders (Pvt) Limited, Parus Media & Broadcast (Pvt) Limited, Mastro Media Distribution (Pvt) Limited, HB DTH (Pvt) Limited, IQ Communications (Pvt) Limited, Nayatel (Pvt) Limited, Shahzad CGG (Pvt) Limited and Sharif Feed Mills (Pvt) Limited.

Pradeep Tomar  / New Delhi : This is good news, that now DVB-T2 (Digital Terrestrial Service) has started in Jalandhar, Punjab. Now users have to buy DVB-T2 enable digital terrestrial receiver and high gain yagi antenna to receive the TV channels.

We talked to representative of Doordarshan Kendra Jalandhar , Punjab. He informed that Doordarshan Kendra; Jalandhar also started a special Doordarshan TV channel “DD Punjabi Platinum" for dvb-t2 viewers.

Here are our good steps going to be process by Prasar Bharati (For DD Freedish).
Satellite Migration (will start from 31st Jan. 2016):
DD Freedish DTH moving to new satellite GSAT15, Migration will start from midnight of 31st January 2016 to 1st February 2016. Users may have to retune / rescan their set-top box after this date.

Expanding of TV channels (After satellite migration):
After complete migration of satellite, DD Freedish expands its TV and radio channels up to 250 TV channels. Also new channels will be available in MPEG-4 format for better picture and sound quality.

Channels migration (MPEG2 format to MPEG4) :
According to sources, DD Freedish TV channels migration for MPEG2 to MPEG4 will take place in two phase starting from February 2016. But MPEG4 channels will be available in CAS enabled set-top box only, after complete testing and migration.

"Prasar Bharati CEO Jawhar Sircar had said early last year that FreeDish’s aim was to reach 112 channels within a year or so. This can be easily achieved after shifting to MPEG-4 compression."

CAS System (Encryption in DD Freedish) :
Doordarshan already announced that now DD Freedish use Free CAS system to provide better experience with channels EPG and other services. Late last year, the Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY) approved a proposal by ByDesign India to develop an Indian conditional access system for Doordarshan DTH. Although current fta channels will not affected by CAS system, as sources said.

As everybody knows that DD Free Dish is free DTH service but after enable CAS, So DD Free Dish will know, exactly how many subscribers are connected or using DTH services. But CAS enabled set-top boxes will be slightly costlier than an ordinary free-to-air set-top box consumers are using now.

DD Free Dish (previously known by DD Direct Plus) was launched in December 2004 and right now, INSAT-4B satellite at 93.5° is used to broadcast 64 FTA MPEG-2 Channels, 48 MPEG-4 channels and 29 radio channels coming soon by using new satellite GSAT15.

DD Freedish DTH successfully migrated to new satellite

This is good information for DD Freedish viewers that DD Freedish DTH successfully migrated to satellite GSAT15.
Prasar Bharati (DD Freedish DTH) issued new frequencies for this satellite. According to information from 1st February 2016, old frequencies will not work (INSAT4B).

Here is new frequencies parameters for your DD Free dish set-top box, you can feed these details manually and tune your set-top box.

6. Enter Frequency (for TP1) to 11090 MHz.
7. Edit/Change Symbol Rate to 29500 Ksps and Polarization to “Vertical”
8. SAVE / OK the setting and SCAN the SET TOP Box.
9. Press “EXIT” Button on Remote.
10. Similarly EDIT, SAVE and SCAN the following TP to get all TV and Radio Channels.

Cable TV and DTH Set-Top Boxes are set to become cheaper by 7%-8%

Pradeep/Blog/New Delhi : This is very good news for Cable TV and DTH industry because in budget 2016 basic custom duty has been exempted in set-top box components, so it is very good news for Cable Tv digitisation.

In Budget of 2016-2017, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said that excise duty on subparts for manufacturer of Routers, broadband modems and set top boxes components was being exempted from 12.5% to 4%.

At this time maximum numbers are set-top box being imported from outside of India but now in lower excise duty in set-top box components, local manufacturers can boost production of set-top box which can help to boost government's "Make in India" program.

So this redemption will boost set-top box manufacturing in India. Due to changes in excise duty in set-top box, routers, broadband modems, digital recorder and CCTV cameras are set to become cheaper by 7%-8%.

For Cable TV and DTH industry, monthly budget of customer for entertainment become little costlier due to increase of service tax (SES) as 0.5%. Now service tax is 15%. So monthly recharge pack or other services become costlier.

DD Free dish starts MPEG-4 Channels from April 2016

DD Free Dish is India's free direct to home service (DTH Service) now going to be add about 24 television channels in MPEG-4 mode.

According to Mr. CK Jain (Dy. Director General in Prasar Bharati) confirmed via official twitter handle that MPEG-4 channels will be start adding in April 2016, but all these channels would be encrypted by CAS. To watch these channels users’ need to buy CAS enabled MPEG-4 set-top boxes from authorized dealers.

After enabled CAS, DD Free dish will bring more television channels with value added services, he added.




But encryption means normal set-top boxes will not able to receive these channels (MPEG-4 Encrypted Channels); also there will not be any monthly subscription fee for these channels.

If you already using DD Free dish by any type of set-top box, no need to worry, because current television channels will remain unencrypted same as before. But you will not receive mpeg-4(encrypted) TV channels by your old set-boxes.

Bangladesh's first Direct-To-Home service "RealVU" DTH

DTH New Blog/ New Delhi :: In Bangladesh, BEXIMCO Communications Limited and GS Group going to be launch country’s first Direct-to-Home (DTH) service with brand name of "RealVU".

Now Bangladesh going to be digital by this DTH service, now people can enjoy great quality of picture and sound compare to analogue cable TV service.

"RealVU" will be premium DTH services; it is not free-to-air service like India's DD Freedish. According to company approximate monthly bill will around Tk 300, where subscriber will receive over 100 digital channels included some HD (high definition channels).
