In earlier DVB-T or DTT analogue transmission, only one channel (Doordarshan National) can be transmitted through a transponder whereas in case of digital transmission (DVB-T2), multiple channels can be transmitted.

This digitisation could also open the possibility of new channels catering exclusively to cities same as FM channels with local programs, advertisements, weather reports and other public related information.

Displaying of Caption on DD Sports Channel, during the live broadcast of sports events

Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) has released an advisory to all MSO and Cable operators directing them to displaying the caption / ticker on DD Sports channel, during the occasion of live broadcast of sporting events of national importance.

As per order, MSOs / DTH and Cable TV platform should have to run this scroll — ‘This match/game can also be viewed on DD Sports channel on DD Free Dish DTH and DD’s terrestrial network on free to-air basis’ — in appropriate colour, font and size making it prominently visible every 15 minutes.

This ticker / information will be display from the starting point of live broadcast till end of live broadcast event on the DTH / Cable TV platform.

“The broadcaster companies concerned shall adhere to the above instruction strictly. This order will come in force with immediate effect,” the MIB said in the order dated 25 April.

An industry source stated that this direction is taken by MIB to promote DD Sports, DTT Service and DD Freedish.

Reliance Big TV ties up with 50,000 Post Office Branches for booking of HD Set-Top Box

This is great news for India's rural area public that Reliance Big TV has tied up with 50,000 post offices across Indian states including Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland and Sikkim for the booking of Reliance Big TV "HEVC HD Set-Top Box".

Regarding this partnership with India Post, Vijender Singh, and Director of Reliance Big TV said, "With the latest offer, Reliance Big TV has strengthened its entry in the digital entertainment industry of India. Now we will get free-to-air high quality entertainment, and more students will be able to use education related material free of charge. Reliance Big TV already started pre-booking for HD HEVC Set-Top Box from official website. For this consumer have to pay online Rs.500 and after that at the time of installation consumer have to pay again Rs.1500 + Rs.250 installation charges. After that they can watch HD+SD pay channels till one year and free-to-air channels for five years.

From 2nd year, consumers will receive its original benefits in from of loyalty and they can enjoy all pay channels at Rs.300 only. If consumer continually watches 3 years including one free year then after 3 years they will get Rs.2000 loyalty bonus cash in form of DTH recharge. So again consumers can watch HD pay channels for about 1.6 years.

In "Animals in Mythology", you will see all stories in 4 part series (in 4 episodes) with  animals or birds characters like pig, peacock, snake, horse, lion, turtle, dog, and more.

As per Epic channel website “Whether in past legends and myths or present times, animals have always been an important link in the circle of life. They have even helped shape India’s history as an agrarian society. From now all the Punjabi music lovers can dance on new upcoming Punjabi music channel "P Tunes". P Tunes channel going to be launch by ITV network. Although, it is not the first TV channel from ITV network.

ITV network already have reputed TV channels in news & media. I think everyone know about India News (National Hindi News channel) and India news regional channels.

Do you know?,  P Tunes not a first Punjabi music channel, in the market there are many Punjabi music channels available likeMH1, PTC Chakde, 9x Tashanetc.

All India Radio launches FM station in Amritsar's international border belt to counter Pak's anti-India propaganda.

Amritsar's international border area starts receiving uninterrupted FM signal as a 20KW AlR FM transmitter was inaugurated on September 24, in the presence of Hon’ble Minister of State for Social Justice & Empowerment Shri Vijay Sampla, and Prasar Bharati Chairman.
Initially the transmitter shall carry programmes for 18 hours per day from 6.00 AM to 12.00 midnight.
The FM transmitter, which will be used for both domestic and external radio broadcast, programmes broadcasted from the transmitter can be heard in a radius of 90 km, including up to 50 km inside Pakistan.

This FM transmitter, due to its strategic location, would provide for countering of any misleading anti-India propaganda and put India's point of view in the correct perspective.

This is good news for consumers that Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has uploaded the complete list of 332 Pay TV Channels in India, and their respective MRPs (Maximum Retail Price).
All major DTH operators have announced individual pricing of all their TV channels following the TRAI order. Viewers can pick TV channels as per choice and can pay accordingly.
TRAI has already said via a PRESS RELEASE: “The new framework provides for complete transparency on Pay Channel pricing structure whereby no distributor (DTH, Cable TV, IPTV operators) can charge above the MRP declared by a broadcaster.”

Viewers / consumers are advised that if they are choosing à la carte selection of channels, then they shouldn’t pay more than these MRPs of the channels. Plus, Rs 130 as a Network fee every month, which will also allow you access to more than 100+ FTA or Free to Air Channels. Now I think DTH or Cable TV providers will competite on free to air channels and services.
It means now consumer will see which DTH or Cable TV operators giving best and maximum free to air channels and services. Because after Trai rule distributor cannot change price or cannot offer discounts.

India got two new TV channels on science & technology called 'DD Science’ & ‘India Science’

This is good news for all Indian viewers that DOORDARSHAN launched two new TV channels on science & technology to educate children’s.

About India Science:

What happens if all popular channels to be removed from DD Freedish?

Yes, it can be true. Because recently lots of news and reports publishing in various media sources that India’s top broadcasters decided to remove their top free to air TV channels from DD Free dish DTH. All the media sources claiming that it will be huge losses for the public broadcaster (DD Freedish).

But I think, It will be good news for Prasar Bharati and DD Freedish subscribers because Prasar Bharati can launch their own TV channels in different-different categories like Kids / Comedy / Movies / Drama / Info in languages wise. Because if Prasar Bharati can run 50+ educational channels within a few months then it will not be a big task to start Doordarshan’s own movie channel or kid’s channel.

Do you know? recently Prasar Bharati advertisement revenue dropped from all Doordarshan channels due to DD Freedish DTH carrying private TV channels. Because currently, the top private TV channels have high jacked all advertisement revenue of free dish dth so Prasar Bharati forms new guidelines for DD Free Dish e-auctions with higher slot charges to recover losses.

So now the same broadcasters going against these new guidelines ( DD Freedish revised policy) and decided to boycott DD Freedish. So if it happens then no wonder but Prasar Bharati has another chance to shine DD Freedish and Doordarshan channels with new category, language, and genre.

What changes can be possible from Doordarshan?

Very simple, Prasar Bharati can convert all DD basic regional channels to regional general entertainment channel with the latest content, regional news and cartoon slot. They need to change the current programming type on every channel. Channels name and logo should also be changed for example DD UP = Prayag TV or GetUP Tv etc.

How it could be profitable for Prasar Bharati?

Now Prasar Bharati can earn more by more good channels and more advertisements.

How to they can bring content?

They can buy the latest content from many producers like Eros Now, T-Series, Netflix, Amazon Prime, and other sources. Because the audience wants new content not recorded or old.

Conclusion:

In last, Prasar Bharati has a golden chance to increase and promote its own TV channels. Also, new private Tv channels can promote their content on DD Freedish. DD Freedish can produce competitor of big broadcasters from this platform.

DD Freedish key highlights of first annual e-auction for vacant slots

The first annual e-Auction as per the new policy (38th e-Auction of DD FreeDish (DD Direct Plus)) was successfully conducted from 11th Feb 2019 that ended on 14th Feb 2019. This e-Auction took place based on the revised policy announced by Prasar Bharati on 15th January 2019. Applications were received for e-auction under 5 different buckets, i.e.
i) BUCKET A+ : All GEC (Hindi) Channels & Teleshopping ,
ii)BUCKET A: All Movie (Hindi) Channels,
iii)BUCKET B: All Music(Hindi) Channels, Sports (Hindi) Channels, Movies (Bhojpuri), GEC (Bhojpuri),
iv)BUCKET C: All News& Current Affairs (Hindi), All News& Current Affairs (English) Channels and News& Current Affairs (Punjabi) Channels and
v)BUCKET D: All other remaining Genre (Language).

Subsequently, 40 channels were successfully allocated slots on various buckets. Subject to completion of all formalities, the channels who have successfully bid for slots will come on air on DD FreeDish platform from 1st of March 2019. Consequently, the existing channels, which are on the DD FreeDish platform on a pro-rata basis, will be off air after 28th February 2019.

• Star Bharat
• Star Utsav Movies
• Rishtey
• Rishtey Cineplex
• Sony Wah
• Sony Pal

40 channels were successfully won the slot on DD Free dish, which will be available from 1st March 2019
